IT Today: Essential Technology News (June 2026)

Is artificial general intelligence (AGI) here yet?

Some would say so. New releases from Anthropic (Claude Fable 5) and the way OpenAI is positioning itself suggest that a decisive threshold in the evolution of AI may have already been crossed. AI is also already widely used – it has long ceased to be a mere curiosity, and is now integrated into our everyday applications and activities as a tool that we increasingly rely on in our daily decisions.

However, if our expectations are for a machine capable of autonomous, human-like reasoning, there is still a long way to go. Today’s models still lack essential cognitive elements, such as truly persistent long-term memory and an understanding anchored in the reality of the world around us. For this reason, an artificial intelligence that can match the human mind in absolutely all areas and exhibit self-awareness remains, for the time being, a frontier that technology is still trying to conquer.

With such questions in mind, we invite you to continue browsing the June edition of our IT news column to discover the latest analysis and news from the world of technology!

The End of Traditional Web Content: How SEO Will Adapt to the AI Era

Google’s latest algorithm update was a decisive step in online marketing: from now on, simply creating “good content” no longer works in SEO, as AI directly generates answers, eliminating clicks. An MIT study confirms that AI can take over 65% of marketing tasks. The solution for marketers? Google’s Rand Fishkin suggests that we should focus on creating inimitable products, leveraging human expertise, and building audiences on platforms outside of the actual site, where brand influence can replace classic organic traffic.

Project Glasswing experts are getting access to Mythos 5, a non-restricted version designed specifically to identify and defend against cyberthreats, at a more affordable price.

CISA Alert on Zero-Day Vulnerabilities in Cisco Catalyst

CISA recently added a zero-day vulnerability (CVE-2026-20245) in Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN products to its catalog of actively exploited threats. While it requires administrator privileges, hackers frequently combine it with another critical authentication flaw (CVE-2026-20182) to execute arbitrary commands and take control of systems. Cisco recommends urgent software updates to mitigate the risk.

Zero-Day Vulnerability Also in Google Chrome and Chromium

Google has released an emergency update for Chrome 149 to fix a zero-day vulnerability (CVE-2026-11645) that is actively exploited by hackers. The issue affects the V8 JavaScript engine, allowing attackers to execute malicious code via forged HTML pages. The CISA agency has added this flaw to its threat catalog. Users are urged to update their browsers immediately to prevent attacks.

MIT Trains AI Agents to Ask Better Questions Using Battleship

MIT researchers have developed an innovative method to train AI agents to formulate more effective questions using the classic game Battleship. Instead of processing massive amounts of data, the AI learns strategies for logical deduction and query optimization. This approach reduces the resources required and improves the ability of models to solve complex problems through directed investigation and reasoning.

Best New Features in Python 3.15

The first beta of Python 3.15 brings major performance and usability improvements. Among the new features are lazy imports for faster startup, new types frozendict and sentinel(), and a much more efficient statistical profiler. The JIT compiler also offers 8-13% performance gains, more detailed error messages, and expression unpacking is now simplified.

The AI Agent Paradox: More Code, Less Deliverables

A Forbes article highlights a major discrepancy in the use of AI agents for programming: they generate 180% more code, but only manage to deliver 30% more finished software. This paradox arises because the massive volume of code requires intensive human testing, review, and debugging. Thus, bottlenecks have shifted from writing the code to the complex implementation stages.

UI/UX and Graphic Design News

Designing for AI: Returning to UX in 1999

A UX Collective article argues that design for today’s artificial intelligence resembles interface design in 1999. The focus has shifted from complex visual interfaces to text-based interactions and conversational commands, similar to terminals of that era. UX designers must prioritize user intent, clarity, and raw usability over aesthetics, adapting to an environment dominated by dynamic queries.

AI Has Created New Professional Roles in Design

AI is currently transforming the UX field, spawning new professions. Rather than replacing designers, the technology is creating essential roles such as AI behavior designer, generated content auditor, and conversational interaction specialist. As a result, the focus of the profession is shifting from visual production to modeling algorithms, overseeing ethics, and optimizing AI-powered experiences.

OFFF 2026: Are You Really Creating or Just Talking About It?

OFFF 2026 in Barcelona challenged the creative industry with a key question: Are you really creating or just talking about it online? In an era dominated by artificial intelligence and LinkedIn posts, creative leaders are emphasizing the importance of showing the real work process. The central message encourages slowing down the technological pace and prioritizing authentic execution and passion, beyond digital noise.

Why Technology Is Just a Means, Humanity Is the End Goal

To close this month’s edition, the best advice comes from a seemingly unexpected source: renowned industrial designer Dieter Rams. Although he himself eschews modern computers, his famous 10 principles for “good design” prove to be the perfect guide for the AI era. In a world where interfaces are rapidly transforming and technological pressure is constantly increasing, Rams gently reminds us that innovation is not about complicating things, but about making them deeply useful, aesthetic, and easy to understand.

Today, Rams’ principles bring a comforting clarity. Good design is unobtrusive, honest, and consistent down to the last detail. When we’re designing intelligent agents or new UX experiences, we shouldn’t be carried away by the mirage of technology just for show. Instead, our mission is to ensure that AI solves real problems, seamlessly complementing the user’s life without overwhelming or manipulating them.

In the end, as we learned from the effervescent conclusions of the OFFF festival, what really matters is getting down to business and creating meaningful things. Rams’ final principle—“as little design as possible”—is exactly the mindset we need today to filter out the digital noise. No matter how advanced AI models become, empathy, authentic craft, and human intention will always remain at the heart of any great product. So let’s use these technological superpowers not to talk more about design, but to build a simpler, better future. Let’s get to creating!
